Visual Impact, The Silent Roar

David Gill

David Gill Gallery, founded in 1987, has been a trailblazer in the world of collectible design and art for over 35 years. The gallery was inaugurated by David Gill on London’s Fulham Road, and from its inception, it exhibited work by world-renowned artists such as Jean Cocteau, Giacometti, Yves Klein, and Henri Matisse. The first furniture pieces sold included historic items by Le Corbusier, Jean-Michel Frank, and Mies Van Der Rohe.

The gallery quickly gained a reputation for its original taste and perspective on art and design, invigorating the London and global art scene. It added contemporary artists to its roster, including Elizabeth Garouste, Mattia Bonetti, Grayson Perry, and Donald Judd. The gallery's second location in Vauxhall, opened in 1999, further encouraged dynamic conversations, showcasing works in a custom-built space, including the now-infamous ‘Yaa Hoo Town, Bunkhouse’ by Paul McCarthy.

In 2012, the gallery moved to King Street St. James’s, marking the occasion with Zaha Hadid’s now-iconic Liquid Glacial series. The gallery continues to foster the talent of leading artists, architects, and designers, including Daniel Libeskind, Michele Oka Doner, Fredrikson Stallard, and Chris Schanck.

Works from David Gill Gallery can be found in esteemed private and public collections globally, including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. David Gill has been honoured both with the Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts & des Lettres and as Officier of the Ordre des Arts & des Lettres, testifying to his significant contributions to the art world.

David Gill Gallery is a dynamic platform that nurtures creativity, fosters artistic growth, and promotes cultural exchange. Its diverse exhibitions and programs reflect its commitment to promoting a wide range of artistic expressions and its dedication to nurturing emerging talent.
