The Guiding Light: Vision in Creativity

Large Glass

Situated in the heart of London, Large Glass is a contemporary art gallery that has been making a significant impact on the art scene since its establishment in 2011. The gallery, located near Kings Cross, on the edge of Central London, is named after the celebrated work by Marcel Duchamp, reflecting its commitment to showcasing art that is conceptual, material, and playful.

Large Glass was created as an alternative to the mainstream commercial gallery scene. Its mission is to promote, represent, and invite artists to its space, providing a platform for both Swiss and international contemporary art. The gallery has been successful in gathering an audience for its international, original, and inquisitive programme, which includes an average of five exhibitions a year.

The exhibitions at Large Glass feature a variety of media, with a particular emphasis on photography. The programme includes solo shows with gallery artists and others, as well as distinctive group projects. These group exhibitions often contain both art and non-art objects, historic as well as contemporary, by known and unknown makers — all circling around a central idea.

Notable exhibitions include "Memoryscapes," a solo exhibition by the German artist Ursula Schulz-Dornburg, and "Guido Guidi: Di sguincio," which marked the launch of Guido Guidi's new book. The gallery also hosted an exhibition featuring the works of Vanessa Billy & Emma McNally titled "Time Spirals."

In addition to its exhibition programme, Large Glass also hosts talks, readings, and other events that, like the objects on show, look outwards to the larger and overlapping cultures within which art is made. The gallery is open from Wednesday to Saturday during exhibitions and by appointment.

Large Glass is more than just a gallery; it is a hub for art enthusiasts, artists, and collectors alike. Its commitment to promoting emerging and established artists, coupled with its dedication to providing a high standard exhibition space, has solidified its reputation as a leading venue for contemporary art in London. As it continues to foster and promote artistic talent, Large Glass is undoubtedly shaping the future of contemporary art in London and beyond.
