Masterpieces: The Blooming Flowers of Imagination

Wilde

Founded in 2015 by Barth Johnson and Sébastien Maret, Wilde Gallery has quickly become a cornerstone of the Swiss and international art communities. With locations in Geneva, Basel, and Zurich, Wilde Gallery represents a diverse roster of established and emerging artists, including those from the African diaspora such as Omar Ba, Adel Abdessemed, and Mounir Fatmi, as well as Mexican-Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer and Palestinian artist Khaled Jarrar.

The gallery's commitment to the realm of cultural production extends beyond its exhibition program to include publications and public projects. Notable among these are Not Vital's project at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, Adel Abdessemed's latest monograph, "Cocorico," with an essay written by Daniel Birnbaum, Dorian Sari's publication for his exhibition at Kunstmuseum Basel Gegenwart (as the winner of the 2021 Manor Art Price), and Andrea Mastrovito's upcoming monograph.

In 2019, Wilde opened a second exhibition space in Basel. This space, designed by French architect Andrée Putman, invites artists and the gallery team to develop exhibitions in tune with the space's unique design. The gallery in Basel has mounted solo exhibitions with Marina Abramovi?, Not Vital, Cornelia Parker, and Daniel Canogar, among many others.

In 2020, Wilde inaugurated a third gallery space in Zurich. While the gallery continues to represent contemporary artists, the Zurich location focuses on exhibiting high-quality secondary market works by twentieth-century masters, further broadening the gallery's scope and appeal.

The founders of Wilde Gallery, Barth Johnson and Sébastien Maret, bring a wealth of experience and passion to their work. Johnson, who earned an art history degree from the University of Geneva, interned at the Galerie Guy Bärtschi in 2006 before taking ownership and transforming it into Wilde with Maret. Maret, who graduated from the University of Geneva with a Masters in Philosophy, had a career as a teacher before embarking on a 9-year career at Sotheby’s.

Wilde Gallery stands as a testament to the enduring power of art and its ability to transcend time and space. It continues to inspire and captivate art enthusiasts from around the world, making it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the world of contemporary art.
