Lisson Gallery

Founded in 1967 by Nicholas Logsdail, Lisson Gallery has grown to become one of the most influential and longest-running international contemporary art galleries in the world. With a reputation for identifying and supporting new art movements and artists, the gallery has been instrumental in introducing important Minimal and Conceptual artists to the public, such as Art & Language, Carl Andre, Daniel Buren, Donald Judd, John Latham, Sol LeWitt, Richard Long, and Robert Ryman, among many others.

Lisson Gallery's influence extends across the globe, with spaces in London, New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Beijing. Each of these locations supports and promotes the work of more than 60 international artists, showcasing a diverse range of artistic expressions. The gallery's commitment to fostering artistic talent is evident in its representation of significant British sculptors, including Tony Cragg, Richard Deacon, Anish Kapoor, Shirazeh Houshiary, and Julian Opie.

In the new millennium, the gallery has continued to expand its roster, representing leading international artists such as Marina Abramovi?, Ai Weiwei, John Akomfrah, Susan Hiller, Tatsuo Miyajima, and Sean Scully. It has also played a crucial role in raising the international profile of a younger generation of artists, including Cory Arcangel, Ryan Gander, Van Hanos, Hugh Hayden, Haroon Mirza, Laure Prouvost, Pedro Reyes, Wael Shawky, and Cheyney Thompson.

The gallery's history is marked by significant milestones. In 2011, it opened its first international location in Milan, Italy. In 2016, under the direction of Alex Logsdail, Lisson Gallery New York was established in Chelsea, with a second New York space opening the following year. In 2019, the gallery expanded into Asia, opening a permanent space in Shanghai, and in 2021, it opened its first permanent space in Beijing. The most recent addition to the Lisson Gallery family is the Los Angeles location, which opened in 2023 within the cultural hub of Hollywood's Sycamore District.

Lisson Gallery's commitment to contemporary art extends beyond its physical spaces. It has launched online initiatives, including an exhibition platform and an alternate reality app, to reach a wider audience. The gallery also participates in major international art fairs, stages off-site projects, and supports artists' exhibitions internationally.
